The following is a summary of a sermon by Pastor Paul C. Jong, who is a servant of God at The New Life Mission and has authored numerous books, including âHave You Truly Been Born Again of Water and the Spirit?â which is published on The New Life Mission website.
Letâs look at John 14:1â7
ââLet not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Fatherâs house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.â
Thomas said to Him, âLord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?â
Jesus said to him, âI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.ââ
The core of this passage is, âJesus said to him, âI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.ââ
What we must understand in believing in Jesus is that both God the Father and Jesus Christ are omnipotent God to us.
Jesus said, âI am in the Father, and the Father is in me.â Therefore, He says, âIf you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.â Thus, what Jesus said is not only His words but also the words of God the Father.
Moreover, the Bible says in John 1:3, âAll things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made,â and in Colossians 1:16, âFor by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.â Also, in John 5:22, âFor the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son.â
As the Bible testifies, Jesus is the God of creation and the God who came as the Judge.
He is also the Lamb of God, the atoning sacrifice, who came as our Savior.
1 John 2:2 âAnd He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.â
1 John 4:10 âHe loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.â
In this way, Jesus came as our Savior and, at the age of 30 when He could fulfill His ministry, was baptized in a form of laying on of hands by John the Baptist âAmong those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist (Matthew 11:11)â who was the representative of humanity and the last high priest of the Old Testament.
Baptism means âto pass over,â âto transfer,â âto be buried,â âto be washed.â
When John the Baptist, the representative of humanity and the last high priest of the Old Testament, baptized Jesus, all the sins of the world were transferred to Jesus, and He removed all the sins of us who believe in Him once and for all. And three years after receiving baptism, Jesus bore all the sins of the world that were transferred to Him through baptism, went to the cross, shed His blood in our place, was judged, and three days later, He rose again, giving us eternal new life. Thus, Jesus is the Creator of the entire universe, the Judge, and our Savior who has saved us from all sins.
Therefore, Jesus said, âI am the way, the truth, and the life.â
God the Father created heaven and earth with His Son and saved us, who were destined to die in our sins and bound for hell, through the water, blood, and the Holy Spirit that His Son accomplished. Jesus will judge those who are born again as righteous through faith in this gospel of salvation and those who remain sinners for not believing. He will judge believers to heaven and unbelievers to hell.
Today, we live in an uncertain future.
The world is being moved and programmed by AI, and its power is dominating the era.
Therefore, people are in confusion, not knowing what purpose they should live for and how. Therefore, Jesus, both when He was living on earth and to us now, tells us:
âLet not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. (John 14:1)â
We must know and believe that believing in Jesus is believing in God the Father, praying to Jesus is praying to God the Father, and relying on Jesus is relying on God the Father.
Therefore, Jesus is the omnipotent God to us, just like God the Father.
