Hello, Today I would like to share a review of a book titled “Have You Truly Been Born Again of Water and the Spirit” written by Pastor Paul C. Jong.
This book is the first of its kind in these end times to clearly explain the gospel of water and the Spirit as written in the Bible.
In it, Pastor Paul C. Jong elaborates in detail on the mystery of Jesus’ baptism by John the Baptist in the Jordan River.
The book begins by discussing the sinful nature of humanity.
Every person is born with 12 types of sins in their heart,
as written in Mark 7:21–23: “And He said, ‘What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For from within, out of the heart of people, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a person.’”
No matter how hard we try not to sin, we cannot become righteous before God through our own strength. Therefore, we all must be born again to be redeemed and made righteous in His sight.
Being born again is not just a spiritual concept, but the only way for us to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
The Bible clearly states in John 3:5: “Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.”
What Is “Being Born Again of Water and the Spirit” as Taught in the Bible?
What exactly do “water” and “Spirit” mean?
In this book, “water” refers to the baptism of Jesus,
as Jesus said in Matthew 3:15: “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.”
The phrase “to fulfill all righteousness” carries the same meaning as the laying on of hands in the Old Testament. Back then, anyone seeking forgiveness for daily sins had to bring an unblemished lamb or goat to the Tabernacle and offer it at the altar. By laying both hands on the animal’s head, that person’s sins were transferred to the sacrifice, which was then killed as atonement. In the New Testament, John the Baptist had a special role as the final High Priest, representing all mankind. John baptized Jesus in the Jordan River, transferring all the sins of the world onto Him, just as the priests did in the Old Testament. Since Jesus bore all human sin through His baptism, John testified the next day,
“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).
By understanding the role of John the Baptist, we can more clearly grasp how Jesus bore all the sins of the world through His baptism.

Jesus, who came to this earth as the Lamb of God, received baptism which was in the same form as the laying on of hands in the Old Testament to bear all the sins of mankind, shed His blood and died on the cross to receive the judgment for these sins in our place, rose from the dead, removed all our past, present, and future sins once and for all, and became the Savior of those who believe.
